Changelog

What's new

Everything we've added or improved, newest first.

  1. Letting agent fees: report your full rent

If your agent takes their fee before paying you, your bank shows the rent after fees. On the review page, enter the fees from your agent's statements and we report the full rent as income and the fees as an expense, as HMRC wants. Your profit stays the same.

  2. Help and legal links everywhere in the app

Help & guides is now in the account menu, and every dashboard page ends with links to our privacy policy, terms, security page and email.

  3. A clearer step when your plan starts

Your first quarter is free. When you start your second, we now explain why you're choosing a plan, and take you straight back to your upload after paying.

  4. Try Quartax with a sample statement

No statement to hand? Use our made-up landlord's quarter to see how we sort transactions and work out the totals. Samples are never sent to HMRC.

  5. Upload a quarter before it ends

You can now upload and check your figures any time during the quarter. Sending opens 10 days before the quarter ends.

  6. Reset your password by email

Forgotten your password? Use the link on the sign-in page and we'll email you a one-time link to choose a new one.

  7. Better categories

Insurance now goes under premises costs, matching HMRC's forms. Transfers to your own savings, supermarkets, takeaways and streaming are excluded as personal automatically.

  8. Try it before connecting HMRC

Upload your statement and check every category first. We only ask you to connect HMRC when you're ready to send, and your figures are linked to the right income source when you do.

  9. Refer another landlord

Share your link from Settings. They get 20% off their first year, and you get £10 off your next year once they've paid.

  10. A new home for our MTD guides

Start with the essentials, see the next deadline at a glance, and search or filter guides by topic.

  11. Joint owners and HMRC's simpler options

Set your share of a jointly owned property or joint account. Send expenses as one total if your income is under £90,000, or just your income during the year for jointly let property.

  12. Give your accountant read-only access

Invite your accountant from Settings to see what you've sent HMRC: each quarter, year-to-date totals and a CSV of your transactions. You can remove access any time.

  13. Calendar quarters

Prefer quarters that end with the month, like 1 July to 30 September? Choose calendar quarters in Settings. Deadlines stay the same.

  14. No card needed to start

Sign up and send your first quarter without a card. We only ask for one when you start your second quarter.

  15. Live with HMRC

Quartax is recognised by HMRC and sending real quarterly updates for landlords and sole traders.
